Certain people in domestic relationships are entitled to apply to the court for orders if the safety and welfare of a victim is at risk. The orders that the court can make include Barring Orders, Interim Barring Orders, Protection Orders and Safety Orders.

Breach of any of these orders will have serious consequences and the Garda have the power of arrest under the Domestic Violence Act, 1996.

Generally speaking spouses, children and certain other dependent people are entitled to seek this type of relief or assistance from the court. Certain cohabitants and family members may also be able to avail of the relief. We will be able to advise you based on your own circumstances as to the reliefs that may be available to you.

Our experienced solicitors regularly attend the local district court seeking and defending domestic violence orders, including barring orders, interim barring orders, safety orders and protection orders. We will be able to advise you based on your own particular situation.
